***CARP FISHING TV *** The Challenge Episode 17 “Back In The Day”

In this episode of the Challenge Mark has to use end tackle, baits and rigs he would have used in the late 80’s/early 90’s when he first started carp fishing. Would the primitive tackle halt his progress in episode 17 or will he achieve his first pass in over 9 months.

  1. that is really goiging back in time also for mi as a started carp fishing

  2. This brought back some memories for sure! I couldn't afford a bedchair so had to rough it on the ground with a bright blue sleeping bag waking up with slugs on my face ๐Ÿ˜€ good times!

  3. Christopher James

Absolutely brilliant. Caught my first carp at Cuttle Mill was about 4lb and I was 11 in 1985 with my Grandad. I recall a photo being taken and I was wearing some horrendous double denim outfit. I really think you should have grown a mullet for full old school effect.

  4. I remember those alarms, bought back some memories watching this. Loved it

  5. Hes missing old school rods and reels 3500 size baitrunners and 1.75lb rods

  6. Quality mate as always love it

  7. Jonathon Bourton

Spot on video as always guys ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฃ great timing with the weather always helps massively timing it bob on some great fish caught to ๐Ÿ‘Œ. I ask you a serious question here in the future in your fishing and your on a lake struggling for a bite would you consider banging on one of the old school rigs you used in this episode they certainly did the job and would you use your bait on other waters now that tuttis and older style baits donโ€™t get used? As the fish obviously loved them now just as much as back in the day.

  8. Oblioi mymilkchurn

should of had bait runners too

  9. Mic drop, dab๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  10. Fantastic challenge guys and great fishing Mark. Just shows that with all the new rigs andcewuipment sometimes it doesn't matter what you. Carp fishing has come a long way in the last 20 years or so but the old ways with modern technology can still be the best.

  11. Great video , good laughs and a great venue. MP for England

  12. Nice one Mark as always, hope the lakes going well and you have cleaned that van out!

  13. Awesome challenge and on a awesome lake stooped in history..i remember des tayler doing the vid on that swim..great vid/vlog made my evening

  14. Dannys Angling Blog

Cracking episode!! that moment when your current 2018 main line maxima appears in a 1990 remake video ๐Ÿ™‚ #Oldskool

  15. Great ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฃ

  16. As always comedy gold and some tips chucked in for good measure.
Love watching these challenges, keep em coming. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

  17. Awesome vid

  18. Harmen Sleeuwenhoek

Brilliant episode, best so far! Love all the banter and those were some beautiful carp! Good angling! Also great Harry couldn't do anything this time to make things harder for Mark to complete the challenge for once ๐Ÿ˜‚

  19. Those sleeping bags are still issued to British forces, they are warm weather bags though, issued for use in places like Kenya and the jungle or when sleeping inside. Quality video again, brilliant ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

  20. Awesome episode guys!! Loved it!! Greetings from holland!!

  21. The challenge should be on mainstream t.v …….. its that good, every episode

  22. Lovely video was funny that bed chair ๐Ÿ˜‚.. keep up the good work guys canโ€™t wait for the next one!

  23. This was wonderful from beginning to end! Loved the new way you guys are setting up the challenges, loved the slow mo cinematography with the captures, I love how you did the old school vibe although I have to say I have a bed chair similar to the one Mark just could NOT sleep on and I do ok with it, and I'm no small man. ๐Ÿ˜‰ It was an awesome episode and the alpaca muse, oh good heavens! That was glorious! Well done boys on a great episode!

  24. Really enjoyed that ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸŽฃ๐Ÿณ

  25. That tackle really takes me back . The mini microns , I drooled over them too when I was 16 the ยฃ20 or whatever seemed like a fortune to me lol . The rifs were simple but worked and the double figure carp were massive in my eyes back then , I remember catching the biggest in my local lake on rigs like that back then " LUMPY AT 20lb 4oz lol . Them were the days ;-P

  26. Brilliant episode !
    and that waste coat LMFAO

  27. Great watch and shows some of the old gear and methods still work nice one guys

  28. Hi Mark, i love your vids and i'd love to throw a challenge at you. Down here in Australia carp are plentiful but there is almost no one fishing for them, so to see you doing so well with gear I can buy is an awesome show!
Harry, if you really want to annoy him let me know I think i could frustrate him amazingly, also, your camera work is brilliant not only is the content great but you put together a beautiful piece of work, congrats to you both!

  29. Jake baxter SecondNature789

Great video again lads.. really enjoy watching your stuff as you two have a right laugh and catch some mega fish.. one question pal, Why so many cuts on ya hands??

    • Jake baxter SecondNature789 I was wondering that too mate! Maybe he works on the side ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธlol

  30. Jake baxter SecondNature789

If it's pink and it stinks, leave it alone haga

  31. Jake baxter SecondNature789

I love how your bites are always so quick and your so carm lol..

  32. Jake baxter SecondNature789

    Smashed the challenge mark..well in

    • Fox International Carp Fishing

he's been busy working at his lake over the winter

    • Fox International Carp Fishing I was wondering why the video wasnโ€™t uploaded in a while, I check your channel every time to see if itโ€™s on, my favourite thing to watch while am fishing waiting for bbbbebebebebbbbbbbbbbbbbb fish!

  33. Cracking episode, but the barrow should have been binned and replaced with a shopping trolley or wheel barrow. ๐Ÿ™‚ Real shame that you were not on Cardinal 55s and Sportex/North Western rods

  34. Excellent episode! One of the best ones. Keep up the good work!

  35. Currently Iโ€™m collecting camolite gear and Iโ€™m extremely envy of youโ€™re setup

  36. @24.00 more forceps than a surgeons forcep draw. love your videos, my pals and i used to fully watch passion for angling before every session REDMIRE is a vid you have to do. with roulette for bait n tackle

  37. 2 doubles to complete.. 5 fish in 8hours… Sick stuff first 43 minutes! Should go back to ur old stuff

  38. Great video, massive fun to watch. Is a swerveball the same as a curveball? ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. Top๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ

  40. Cuttle mill was a big part of my carp fishing in the middle 80's and early 90's some of my best memories…great video

  41. Watched this twice now lol loving it๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ keep them coming well done๐Ÿ‘

  42. Maciej Raczkowski

It is nice that you follow your passion Mark!

  43. Yorkshire BankTramp

:/ I have a Parrot/rod shot on one of my instagram posts haha

  44. Great video mark/harry, I have been looking for my mojo lately and the vids you two make do really help me wanting to get on the bank again! great stuff

  45. I love the challenge. โค

  46. Wow man i still got me old mini microns and still use me original jrc bedchair and mk1 trakker bivvy i miss the old days of carping

  47. Most enjoyable.

  48. Id rather see you sitting on a bucket with corn on your hook without all the alarms, bivvy, rod pods, boilies, fancy reel and rod. Should have get some second hand rod 2lb tc and some second hand reel. Graeme Pullen from TAF fishing could probably lend you some of his gear that he uses on daily basis that would fit in 90s challenge perfectly ๐Ÿ™‚

  49. Coloured beads, dunno why ๐Ÿคฃ

  50. caught on camera

want to win some amazing fishing prizes ' check this out on Facebook '

  51. 25.37 – can someone tell me what mat that is? The pop up one?

  52. Would you have had wire and tungsten putty back then? And pink pop-ups?

  53. I actually had this bivvy bed chair combo with a mummy army bag, need to bring this brolly out again lol. I even had the vapour shield with it

  54. Brilliant episode lads great pass mate, nice to see you can actually catch carp hahaha, also goes to show we don't need all these mad complicated rigs right place and any rig will do

  55. So much better to watch than your generic carp shows

  56. Were the mini microns early 90โ€™s?

  57. I'm looking into making my own boilies this year, any chance you could share the recipe for those tutti fruti boilies, I like the look of them, cheers great vid.

  58. Must take ages to load the barrow and get set up when you have to do it in slow-mo fella ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  59. Epic fail Mark! I'm affraid the Tutti Fruti had to be frozen and unfrozen about 30 times so they became a sticky mess. So not Carpy! Oh and the lack of Monkey climbers fitted with starlights speaks volumes!

  60. Well in Mark congrats on smashing the challenge & my favourite one by far. It brought back so many memories for an old school 90's carper. Thanks to Harry and the voters too, great entertainment lads ๐Ÿ˜‰

  61. Can anyone tell me who the artist of the sound track is around 1.07.18

  62. Song from 30 min??

  63. Northumberland Carper

best one so far, because it brings so many memories back. itv sign them up…………..plz

  64. is this a repeat mark

  65. Smokey Canopy outdoors

    Great stuff guys.

  66. Still using one of those bivvys. Got it 2nd hand in the mid 90s, even got the inner anti condensation skin thing they are bringing back! Awesome rib design why did it get changed!

    • Still got mini microns as spares too, ones gone a bit quiet though I'm thinking of sending it back to Fox, better check it's still under guarantee though!

  67. Great vid, just goes to show Des Taylor knew a good swim when he saw one!

Seriously though leads on to the following clear conclusion: there have been no significant advances in carp tackle and techniques for 25 years.

Ok make it 20 then you take in the grange (first widely used "active" bait? – red fishmeals where already around 25yrs ago) and the hinged stiif rig. Game over carp fishing was optimised 20 years ago!

  68. Summit Detailing

Great episode chaps, shame you didn't use period correct rods/reels to match the rod pod and terminal tackle arrangement.
    Some lol comedy moments.
Look forward to the next one.

  69. Another great video and a great lake which might not be much longer once hs2 goest straight throught it

  70. I had them bite alarms! Awesome

  71. One of my fav episodes for sure ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks!

  72. Great episode, I've still got des' cuttle mill video lying round somewhere๐Ÿ‘ i still use an original kjb pod and monkey climbers from 1990 and my tackle box still contains some of the bits that came out of that plastic bag๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  73. Julian Villasante

absolutely Brilliant ! I too started in the late 80's and the cuttle mill Des Taylor bought it flooding back!! (must be a simillar age…43yrs)
always look forward to you videos blogs etc …great stuff as always…and tutti fruttie doing there thing ๐Ÿ‘

  74. Benjamin Sheppard

Love these videos. You seem to really enjoy your fishing and itโ€™s great to see a carp angler not taking himself so seriously !

  75. God I love the challenge

  76. 4 Classic 1990's tackle items missing 'The Shakespeare green cushion top tackle box' 'The Red plastic disgorger behind the ear' 'The Strawberry boilie – gob stopper style' & 'The cutting edge black hair rig tie machine'

  77. Well that has been one of the best things I have seen for a while, present company accepted. Took me back years to that time stripped Argos sunloungers and dodgy sleeping bags. On a rainy Sunday that has proper cheered me up, and just reinforces that you don't need all this stuff we have today, although it makes thinks easier. Proper carping and you can see how much it meant by your faces coupled with an iconic water.

  78. Having not a good day, but this made me laugh so much.Keep it going boys nice one.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  79. repeat this experience degree purple fine carry tour develop face top.

  80. elian day fishing
